If you keep WhatsApp Web open in a Chrome tab all day, everyone around you can read it too. The WBlur extension blurs web.whatsapp.com so your messages, chat list and photos stay hidden until you hover over them.
It works on WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Business Web, in 55 languages, and turns on or off with a single shortcut: Alt+X.

Questions, answered.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to turn the blur on and off?
Yes. Press Alt+X on WhatsApp Web to turn WBlur on or off. You can change the shortcut at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
Does it work with WhatsApp Business Web?
Yes. WhatsApp Business uses the same web.whatsapp.com page, so WBlur blurs it the same way.
Which permissions does the extension need?
Only access to web.whatsapp.com and storage for your settings. WBlur cannot see any other website.
Is WBlur free?
The browser extension for Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Brave and Opera is free. The Mac app is free for 3 days, then a one-time $19 license key for up to 3 Macs, with a 14-day refund if it's not for you.
Does WBlur read or collect my messages?
No. WBlur only changes how WhatsApp looks on your screen. It does not read, store or send your messages, contacts or any information about you.
Can the other person tell that I use WBlur?
No. WBlur only blurs what is shown on your own screen. Nothing changes in WhatsApp itself, and read receipts work exactly as before.
